After two days of appointments with my new lyme doctor and a long drive we are finally home! I can't believe how hard it was being gone from the kids on this trip. It was the first time both my hubby and I were gone overnight at the same time. We both were missing the kids soo much yesterday and decided that we just couldn't do this type of thing often without them. Anyways, onto my update!

On Monday I had my first appointment with the new doctor and immediately we felt like he was a good fit for us. It probably helps that he knew my old doctor and they have similar treatment styles. Another thing that helped, at least us, is that he is a believer! It was so nice to hear him quote scripture while I was emotional explaining what this awful disease has done to me. After going over my symptoms and doing an exam he agreed that I do have chronic lyme with the co-infections babesia and bartonella and I also have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia caused by the lyme disease. We discussed treatment options and he stated that if I lived somewhere other than Texas he would put me on IV treatment but because home health, which is required if you are on IV treatment at home, refuses treatment because he is an out of state doctor. What we are going to do instead is a butt load of antibiotics and other medications at heavy doses so we can attack the lyme disease. I will also get b-12 shots and another shot(which I will explain below) twice a week. We left the appointment feeling very positive and upbeat!

On Tuesday we came back for another appointment with the doctor but this time we were going to be doing a neutralization test. Basically what this in-tales is they inject 6 different shots into my arm and allow 10 minutes in between the shots. At the beginning of the test I had to tell them how I was feeling from head to toe and in between each shot after the 10 minutes were up I once again had to tell them how I was feeling from head to toe. If I was to have a shot that caused my symptoms to feel better then that vial was said to have neutralized me. What this means is whatever is in this vial is counter acting the bad things my immune system is putting out. This is really hard to explain but it is a good thing because it is just one more thing to help my symptoms. It wont cure me but it will help my fibromyalgia pains. So I will get this shot twice a week! After the testing we once again spoke with the doctor and went over all of my medication again and he assured me that at some point he will have me in remission! That was good to hear and what was even better to hear was that by the time I go back in November there should be some sort of improvement! I can't tell you how wonderful my hubby and I felt when we left his office today!

Now comes treatment time. I will probably start my new treatment today or tomorrow depending on when we can pick up all of my prescriptions. I am extremely anxious about starting because with treating lyme disease you get worse before you get better. It is a lot like chemo, the medicine makes you really sick. My symptoms for awhile will be worse and I will be extremely weak and in a ton of pain but in the long run it will all be worth it. I am not sure I am ready for this but I know it is for the best. I am just so scared but I must stay positive and remember the reason for it. One thing that will help me is hearing something my mother in law told me over the phone yesterday. When she picked up my kids from school yesterday she told them about my appointment and how the doctor said he was going to get me better and give me medicine to make me feel well. My oldest daughter, Emma, got extremely excited and said "Noni, I think I am going to cry. I am so happy for mommy.". Wow, I am so blessed to have such caring daughters! I will just remember this when I'm feeling down and I am sure it will help me get through this rough time.

I truly thank everyone for the prayers and support. I know that many prayers were answered and the reason for us leaving the appointment the way we did is because of our Lord! We are extremely blessed and loved and thank you all very much!
