Three studies released on Wednesday in the journal Nature and the American Astronomical Society conference in Austin, Texas, to show the extra solar real estate boom. One study shows that our Milky Way, most stars have planets. And since there are many stars in our galaxy - about 100 billion euros - it means a lot of planets.
"We are looking for an exciting potpourri of things that we do not even think there may be," says Harvard University astronomer Add Kaltenegger, including the planets, which reflect the 'Star Wars' Luke Skywalker's planet with twin suns and mini-dwarf star system, the sun and the planets are depleted.
"We are awash in the planets, where 17 years ago, we were not even sure that there were planets" beyond our solar system, said Kaltenegger, who did not participate in the new research.
Astronomers have found other worlds using three different techniques, and peering through telescopes on the ground and in space.
Confirmed planets outside our solar system - the so-called exoplanets - now number well over 700, still-to-be-confirmed they are in the thousands.
NASA's new planet-hunting Kepler space telescope has discovered exoplanets that is life-friendly zone, and to detect planets as small as the Earth, or even lower. It moves the field looking for a life beyond Earth science fiction just a half.
One study in Nature this week's figures, the planets in the Milky Way average of at least 1.6 on the big star. And it's probably a dramatic underestimate.
This study is based on only one complex and time-consuming method of planet hunting, which uses a number of South American, African, and Australian telescopes. Astronomers look for increasing the brightness of distant stars, which show the planets between the Earth and the pulsating star. This technique is usually found only the larger planets, and is good to find them away from their stars, sort of like our Saturn or Uranus.

Dan Werthimer, chief scientist at the University of California, Berkeley, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence program, which was not part of the study, was impressed: "It is good to know that there are planets out there that we can bring our telescopes."
Kepler also found in three rocky planets - tinier than the Earth - it's circling the dwarf star, which itself is only slightly larger than Jupiter. They are so close to its lower-case letter, that they are too hot for life.
"It's like you took your shrink ray gun, and you set it up seven times smaller and a zap of the planetary system," said California Institute of Technology astronomer John Johnson, co-author of a study presented Wednesday at a conference in astronomy.
Because it is so difficult to understand the size of the planets, they must be pretty far, Johnson said. "It's like cockroaches. If you see one, you have dozens of hiding."
It's not just the number or size of the planet, but if they are found. Scientists once thought were just a system of two stars near the planet is too chaotic. But so far, astronomers have found three different systems with two planets in the sun, something that a few years ago, purely for "Star Wars" movie magic.
"Nature likes to form planets, because it accounts for these places, which is sort of hard to do," said San Diego State University astronomy professor William Welsh, who wrote a study about the planets, which has two stars, which is also published in the journal Nature.
Gravity of the two stars will be close to the unstable region, Welsh said. So, astronomers thought that the planet formed in this area, would be torn apart.
Late last year, Kepler telescope found a system of two stars. It was considered a freak. Welsh, then use Kepler to find two more. Now the Welsh figures such as the planetary systems, while not common, it is not uncommon either.
"It just seems so inevitable that Kepler is going to come live with the Earth-sized planet in the next few years," Johnson said Caltech.
