Is Curiosity only an advanced science lab?

Of course, this is a suite of 10th scientific instruments and the fair name of Mars Science Laboratory. Many of the instruments on board is the first of its kind and will help meet the main objective to find out if the conditions on Mars millions of years ago never favored the existence of life.

For example, are very sophisticated tools, such as chemistry and Camera (ChemCam). ChemCam laser can vaporise material in thin layers of stones less than one millimeter in diameter from a distance of seven meters, and to determine the chemical composition.

According to scientists, the telescope records ChemCam flash glowing plasma created by the vaporised material and record the color of light. The colors that are the spectral signatures, must be analyzed to know the composition of the spectrometer.

Although laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy has been used successfully in determining the composition of ChemCam objects are difficult to reach, or in extreme situations, such as nuclear reactors and the seabed, it is the first time it is sent to another planet.

Curiosity is the ability to drill and scoop samples from the Martian surface and conducted the analysis using spectroscopy inside the spacecraft.

Furthermore, the chemical composition of Mars Science Laboratory is equipped with knowledge, mineralogical samples.

Chemistry and mineralogy (ChemMin) instrument uses X-ray diffraction to determine mineralogical sample standard tool by scientists. This is the first time that this facility is constantly sent to another planet.

But scientists have any guarantee that success in studying the analysis of samples taken depends on how well the samples are taken. Random selection of sampling points, or samples are no longer makes sense because it does not have everything, and at times be quite misleading.

Field geologists often rely on visual inspection of the area of study of different parameters like rock types, minerals and any layering before deciding on the area to be sampled and the kind and number of samples to be taken.

If samples are to be examined in sand or loose soil, texture, grain size, etc. are reviewed before sample collection.

It is a curious scores over its predecessors. ChemCam is equipped with a telescopic image of small craters that have been laser vapourising selected area.

The message relayed this research will help them determine the next target in the immediate vicinity of sites to be sampled next.

If a site is selected based on the image ChemCam, Mahli (Imager Mars hand lens) into the picture. Mahli is the best tool that mimics the lens comes with a handheld field geologists.

Scientists can have a close-up view of both the structures and textures of rocks and minerals. Although it provides ample information about Mars, it is essential to determine if the samples are taken for further analysis.

According to R. Aileen Yingst, Planetary Science Institute researcher Mahli, with its high resolution camera that can show a magnified view of the Martian surface.

As the American Astronomical Society, the national thirst for knowledge is the Mars Science Laboratory, and married to a geologist.
