BEIJING, 30 October (Xinhua) - China's first space lab module Tiangong-1, or Heavenly Palace-1, has undergone a 180-degree turn around to prepare for the upcoming docking with a spacecraft, Shenzhou-8, ready to blast off in early November of the Northwest wilderness area, the space scientist said Sunday.

Meanwhile, significantly changing weather conditions caused by yet another challenge for scientists to determine the time to launch Shenzhou-8 at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi desert, according to Chen.
Scientists are racing to Beijing control center to collect and analyze all data and information to develop appropriate measures and to calculate the exact launch time, Chen said.
Tiangong-1 lab module is expected to perform the first rendezvous and docking with China's Shenzhou-8 after the spacecraft's launch.
Rendezvous and docking technologies are crucial to China's manned space program.
If China has learned from the rendezvous and docking technologies, it is equipped with core technologies and capabilities necessary for building a space station, said Zhou Jianping, chief designer of China's manned space program.
"This will allow the Chinese to carry out larger scale of space exploration," Zhou told Xinhua Sunday in an exclusive interview at the Jiuquan launch center.
"Mastering the rendezvous and docking technologies and put important technical basis for building a Chinese space station and deep space exploration," Zhou said.
China has not yet mastered the basic technologies for manned spacecraft and extravehicular activities (EVA), according to Zhou.
During the mission, the Shenzhou-7 astronaut Zhai Zhigang September 2008, China's first space walk, wearing EVA space suits made in China.
Docking not only offer to send astronauts to the space station and the cargo, but also to increase efficiency and reduce risks of further space exploration, such as landing on the moon and Mars visit, Zhou said.
After the first space docking in November, China will continue sending the spacecraft, Shenzhou-9 and Shenzhou-10 manned or unmanned aerial vehicles before 2012, docking with the Tiangong-1, according to Zhou.
Zhou said China welcomes other countries to participate in its space program and would like to join the international aerospace cooperation.
"We will open our world to create a platform for space station research Chinese scientists and their peers around the world," Zhou said.
Wu Ping, a spokesman for China's manned space program, said Sunday that Chinese officials and experts to call on the European Space Agency and the German Aerospace Center to monitor the launch of the Shenzhou-8 spacecraft.
